Owosso Cross Country completed its season on a tough DeWitt Regional course with the season’s strongest competition. Times for all teams were about the same as they have been over the last couple weeks, given the course’s terrain. Owosso was led my Freshman Libby Summerland who missed out on States by a narrow margin. Libby was joined by Emma Johnson, Emma Perry, Emily Summerland, Jack Smith, Andrew Chapko, and Corey Gates. Coach Holtsclaw and I are very proud of the commitment and camaraderie shown by our team.    As I step down from a program that I’ve been part of since 2005 (2 at OMS and 13 at OHS), I want to thank all the families and student athletes who have made the XC world a special part of my life. I have been blessed with countless memories that I will cherish for a lifetime. There is something special about the enthusiasm, positivity, and mutual support that the XC family has to offer. Cross country running brings out the best in everyone, given that all athletes are putting in the same daily grind and pushing to reach the next goal, one 5K at a time. Every obstacle or setback provides these student athletes with a chance to showcase their courage and willingness to reach to a higher potential, all while encouraging teammates to find the best in themselves. This has been a journey like no other; one that has helped me grow as a coach and educator. The countless personal and team victories, life conversations, mutual support, and weekly shenanigans, are memories that I will cherish. Thank Owosso Cross Country for everything you bring to our school and community. You are one special group of student athletes. Good luck with the next chapter of your journey as you and Coach Holtsclaw continue to carve out trails of future success. I love my XC family! Thank you!
