The Trojans traveled to Fenton for the conference finals on Saturday. The Trojans turned in tremendous swims on Friday and they were looking to go even faster on Saturday. The girls rose to the occasion and faster swims and improved places were the norm on the day. The team accomplished a lot this weekend but the highlight on Saturday was the diving performance of Katie Clevenger. She turned in 11 impressive dives and smashed the school record which was set in 1993 with a score of 361.5. Clevenger scored an amazing 429.70 and advanced to regionals where she will look to qualify for the state finals. Allie Pumford got in on the record breaking as well. After breaking the 100 free record on Friday she broke it again on Saturday by one-one hundredth of a second. Pumford also broke the 200 free record which she set last year. The previous record was 2:01.80, she lowered the record to 2:01.25.
Coach Murray was very proud of not only what the team does in the pool and what a great team they the Trojans are but also how supportive they are of each other and how much they care about their teammates. In the end area powerhouse Fenton came away with the league title while Owosso finished second followed by Swartz Creek/Flushing taking 3rd, Holly 4th, Brandon 5th and Kearsley was 6th. Individual performances were as follows.
The top 16 swimmers on Friday advanced to Saturday and scored points for the team.
In the Medley Relay the team of Lily Davis, Lily Espinoza, Macy Irelan and Madison Livingston finished 2nd.
In the 200 free Allie Pumford got the win and broke the school record, Maddy Kregger turned in a great time placing and moved from 6th on Friday up to 5th place on Saturday. Lauren Taylor turned in a lifetime best time and moved from 11th up to 10th place. Marissa Spalding did likewise and moved from 13th up to 12th place and Brooklynn Crackel turned a great swim to finish 16th.
In the IM Lily Espinoza lead the way placing 5th with a lifetime best time. Erika Ochodnicky placed 9th with a lifetime best time. Lily Davis moved up from 11th on Friday to 10th on Saturday. Alexis Chamberlin had a lifetime best time and moved from 13th to 12th place.
In the 50 Free Mya LaMay and Madison Livingston both had lifetime best times going under 28 seconds to place 7th and 8th respectively.
In diving Katie Clevenger got the win for Owosso breaking the school record with a score of 429.70. Faith Gates placed 10th with a score of 267.80.
In the fly Allie Pumford turned in a lifetime best time moving from 3rd on Friday to 1st on Saturday and got the Trojans their 3rd win on the day. Macy Irelan had a lifetime best time and moved from 6th up to 5th. Madison Livingston had a lifetime best time and moved from 12th up to 11th. Mya LaMay defended her 15th place finish.
In the 100 Free Erika Ochodnicky defended her 9th place finish from Friday
In the 500 Free Maddy Kregger defend her 8th place finish with great swims on Friday and Saturday. Lauren Taylor had a lifetime best time and moved up from 11th to 10th place. Marissa Spalding finished 14th with a lifetime best time break the 7-minute mark. Kelsi Parker earned a 15th place finish after great swims both days.
In the 200 free relay the team of Katie Clevenger, Mya LaMay, Erika Ochodnicky and Allie Pumford placed 2nd.
In Backstroke Macy Irelan had a lifetime best time and placed 4th, Lily Davis moved up from 7th to 6th place. Alexis Chamberlin had a lifetime best time and moved from 8th up to 7th.
In the Breaststroke Lily Espinoza earn a medal placing 3rd. Faith Gates moved up from 6th to 5th place. Abby Christian raced to an 11th place finish. Madisyn Ketchum placed 13th, and Cali Spalding had a lifetime best time placing 14th.
In the final event the team of Allie Pumford, Erika Ochodnicky, Macy Irelan and Madison Livingston placed 2nd.
