At the Flint Metro Conference prelims the Trojans started off fast and got even faster as the night went on. The team had 34 swims and of the 34, 31 were lifetime or season best times. Many of the best times were by a wide margin. The top 16 swimmers in each event advance to the conference finals on Saturday.
In the 200 free Kate Grinnell dropped 8 seconds to place in the top 8. Allie Pumford cruised to a top 8 placing also. She will crank up the speed on Saturday and race for the win in the event against a Fenton swimmer.
In the IM all four girls (Lily Espinoza, Lily Usher, Alexis Chamberlin and Lily Davis) had lifetime best swims and all four placed in the top 8, which was an outstanding accomplishment. Espinoza dropped 4 seconds, Usher dropped 5, Chamberlin cut 11, and Davis dropped 4.
In the 50 free every swimmer had a lifetime best time. Mya LaMay and Amanda Brainerd lead the way placing in the top 8. Emily Pumford tied for 9th. In swimming’s shortest event it can be hard to drop time but Natalie Nolph dropped 3 seconds, Liz Vreibel dropped 1, Bailey Cummings cut 3, Gwen Millar shaved off 2 and Emma Livingston dropped 4.
In the Fly Macy Irelan qualified for the state finals and placed 3rd, Lily Usher was 8th, both were lifetime best times. Emily Pumford qualified 10th.
In the 100 free Allie Pumford qualified 1st, Mya LaMay was 10th. Maddy Kregger dropped 4 seconds, Liz Vreibel dropped 5, Natalie Nolph shaved off 4, and Gwen Millar dropped 12 seconds, all were lifetime bests.
In the 500 Kate Grinnell placed 5th and dropped 22 seconds, Sophie Voss was 11th and dropped 14. Alyson Shane smashed her old time dropping 41 seconds!
In the backstroke Macy Irelan broke her own school record and placed 1st. Lily Davis qualified 6th, Alexis Chamberin qualified 7th. All the girls had lifetime bests.
in the breaststroke Lily Espinoza qualified 3rd and Amanda Brainerd qualified 4th, Madisyn Ketchum qualified 15th and dropped 8 seconds, Cali Spalding qualified 16th and dropped 6 seconds. Emma Livingston dropped 10 seconds.
The finals take place Saturday at 11am in Fenton where the girls were be racing hard for every place and point.
