Owosso cross country traveled to Shepherd today for a huge Invitational with multiple divisions. As today is also homecoming for Owosso and our races were in the afternoon, our athletes showed their commitment to their team and teammates just by showing up to race. Not only did our girls show up to race today, they left with a 2nd place finish out of 20 teams and awesome individual results! Josie Jenkinson had another PR today on her way to a sub 20 minute 3rd place finish (19:49)! Libby Summerland, Onna West, and Emma Johnson finished 12th (20:45), 13th (20:59), and 16th (21:08) overall, all receiving medals! 

Our boys finished 15th, but had a couple more PR performances. Jack Smith inched even closer to breaking 18 minutes by running a person best 18:04, while Corey Gates broke 19 for the first time at 18:51! Sam Perry also cut another 15 seconds off his time.

We are now entering Championship season with the Greater Flint Championship next Saturday. We are very excited about the progress of our teams and we know there are more great things to come! 

We also had 4 middle school athletes join us today. Middle school cross country runners run 2 miles instead of the 5k we run in high school. Emma Crandell was able to earn a medal as the 27th finisher out of 128 girls (15:01). Bryce Davis finished 14th out of 122 boys (12:41), also earning him a medal. Keagan Spielman finished 2 places away from a medal (13:47), which is stellar for a 6th grader competing against 6th, 7th, and 8th graders! Finally, Robert Terry ran a solid race for the Trojans with a time of 15:12. We can't wait to have these athletes join us when they get to high school.
