We are now up to 2 athletes and counting under 20:00 after both Libby Summerland and Josie Jenkinson broke the barrier on Saturday (19:52 and 19:54) with freshman Emma Crandell knocking on the door (20:20). The efforts of these three athletes, who finished 9th, 11th, and 14th, along with their teammates was enough to finish 3rd overall (out of 15), just 5 points behind Ludington.

Also contributing for the Trojans was Julionna West, who earned herself a medal with a 25th place finish in 21:08. Claire Agnew finished 5th for the Trojans in 22:07. Natalie Summerland continued to show growth with another PR in 23:03, and Emma Johnson finished in 24:56. 

We now have a week off before championship season begins. Next Saturday is the Greater Flint Championships at the E.A. Cummings Center in Mt. Morris. We are also just 4 weeks away from our regional meet where we will attempt to qualify to run at the state championship meet.

I should also mention that we took 4 middle school athletes with us to race in the middle school division. As 5 athletes are needed to make a full team, the girls didn't get a team score, but still managed great results. Leading the way was future star Abby Crandell (Emma Crandell's younger sister), who finshed the 2 mile race in 21st place out of 123 girls with a time of 13:46. The next finisher was Sadie Voss, who ran a huge PR of 16:02 (54th place). Raylyn Kennedy also had a nice personal best time of 19:27, and Claire Schmitz finished in 20:27. Congratulations on great races girls, and I can't wait to be your coach in the future!
