FENTON SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: 0

The Girls Swim and Dive Team traveled to Fenton for the Flint Metro Conference meet on Saturday.  This season has thrown many challenges at the team.  To get some training in this summer the girls swam at a lake.  The season was postponed by a month and the team was forced to do workouts outside of the pool.  This week the team found out numerous swimmers would not be able to compete at the conference meet.  Despite all of these challenges the girls fought hard and turned in outstanding swims and dives.  The team exceeded expectations at the conference meet finishing just 2 points behind second place Corunna.  “We always aim to have our best swims at the conference meet.  Our whole season is geared towards a great finish.  The end of our season this year was very difficult but those girls who could compete stepped up as best they could.  It was very exciting to see so many of our swimmers and divers move up in placing to grab the team points.  The girls really fought hard for every point and I couldn’t be prouder of the work they put in this year.” Coach Murray said.

The girls had season or lifetime best results in 18 out of 21 individual events.

The season continues for Macy Irelan.  She will compete in the state finals in two weeks.  Macy turned in a great swim going 2:22.17 in the IM and broke the school record of 2:23.66 which was held by Allie Pumford.

1st year diver, Olivia McIntyre, advances to diving regionals on Thursday in St. Johns.

The top 3 places in each event earn All-Conference honors.
