Greater Flint XC Championship (Girls' Results)

Game Date
Oct 8, 2022

After a late night enjoying the homecoming football game and festivities, Owosso cross country athletes boarded a 7:00AM bus to go compete in the Greater Flint Championship meet on Saturday. Even though they had the homecoming dance later in the day, our athletes woke up early and competed hard. This level of dedication to their sport and their teammates is what makes these athletes so special. I am so proud to be their coach.

Despite having Julionna West sit the meet out to try to heal up a bit for Regionals, our girls still were able to finish 8th out of 22 teams in the Greater Flint area. Libby Summerland and Josie Jenkinson were the first to cross the line for Owosso, with Libby only a half of a second ahead of Josie at 19:47. That marks a personal record for Libby and a season record for Josie while they were able to finish in 12th and 13th overall (7th and 8th for D2 schools). Emma Crandell was the next to finish with a time of 20:40. Claire Agnew broke into the 21's for the second time this year with a time of 21:57. Emma Johnson had a nice season record of 22:26. Natalie Summerland hit another personal best mark of 22:41. To put the talent of these girls in perspective, 4 years ago our girls team only had 1 athlete that was faster than Natalie's mark of 22:41 at the Greater Flint Championship.

With the first of many championship meets under our belts, we now set our eyes on the Greater Lansing Championship meet next Saturday. Full results can be found at: https://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/meet/203190/results/814557
