Owosso track and field opened the Flint Metro League season today with wins against both Clio and Kearsley. Despite missing a few talented girls, we were still able to outwork both teams in a true team victory. Girls stepped up and competed in events today that they normally wouldn't be comfortable running and I am very proud of their selfless efforts. The point leaders today were freshman Haley Mickle, who won both the 100m hurdles and the 300m hurdles and finished 2nd place in the long jump behind her teammate and co-leading scorer Lexi Martenis, who was able to win long jump, the 200m dash, and finish 2nd in the 100m dash behind returning conference champion Saniaa Walker by only .17 seconds. Also winning for Owosso were Emma Perry in the 1600, Madison Livingston in discus, and Keera Barnhill in high jump.
