Owosso Girls' Track and Field traveled to Fowler to compete in the Fowler Invite on Friday. Due to COVID regulations, invitationals are a little smaller this year as no more than 16 single gender teams are allowed to compete at the same location at the same time (8 boys teams and 8 girls teams). Although Owosso finished 7th out of 8 teams, there was a lot to be excited about. Our best finish of the night was by Libby Summerland who cruised to a 1st place finish in the 400 meter dash, beating 2nd place by nearly 2 full seconds. She also had a great day at pole vault and earned a 3rd place finish. As the first three places in both individual events as well as relays received gold, silver, and bronze batons instead of medals, she came away with a pair of batons to display. Also earning batons was the 4x100m relay team of Emmalee Hudecek, Hannah Hudecek, Courtney Lott, and Kaitlyn Cummings who finished 3rd. Individual events also gave medals to 4th-6th place. Claire Agnew earned a 5th place medal in the 400, Nevaeh Mishler finished 6th in the 100m hurdles, Alaina Poggiali end up 6th in shot put, Keera Barnhill earned a 6th place high jump finish, and Michaela Nichols rounded out our medalists with a 6th place long jump finish. Owosso track will be back in action next Wednesday at home against both Lake Fenton and Clio.
