Owosso girls’ track and field traveled to Ovid-Elsie to compete in the Marauder Lions Club Invite on Friday. Despite the very windy and chilly day, our girls competed well and had some great performances. We finished 6th out of 8 and came away with ten medals, including 1 first place finish. Libby Summerland outsprinted the field in the 400 on her way to a personal best time and win. As PRs were hard to come by with athletes running into gusty winds for the last 100 meters, this was a very impressive race where Libby beat a competitor by a second and a half who was seeded higher than her going into the race. Libby also joined teammates Claire Agnew, Michaela Nichols, and Emma Johnson in the 4x400m relay where they raced to a 2nd place finish. On top of the relay, Claire was able to come away with 2 additional medals with a 3rd place finish in the 400 and a 5th place finish in the 200. Michaela was also able to earn an additional medal with a 6th place long jump finish. Nevaeh Mishler came away with a 5th place medal in the 100m hurdles. Our last medal went to Keera Barnhill, who tied her PR in the high jump and earned a 6th place finish. Our only other two personal record performances came from Nevaeh in the 100m dash and Courtney Lott in the long jump. 

We have a full schedule next week as we travel to Corunna both Wednesday and Friday for a dual meet and then an Invitational, followed by a trip to Holt for an Invite on Saturday.
