Owosso Girls' track and field traveled to Corunna for the first out of four times in the next couple weeks for a dual meet. We came home with a 100-28 loss against a very talented team. However, we still managed many bright spots that are worth highlighting. Libby Summerland managed another 2 first place finishes on the evening as she ran a personal best 1:04.52 in the 400 and out-vaulted teammate Claire Agnew in pole vault. On top of the 2nd place finish in pole vault, sprinter Claire Agnew stepped outside of her comfort zone and ran the 800 just to see what she could do. Not only did she run well, she managed to win the event! We had one more first place finish on the day as Neveah Mishler ran a huge PR in the 100m hurdles. She has overcome some early season injuries and is starting to get a better feel for hurdles, but still hasn't even touched her potential. I look forward to continuing to watch her grow. Rounding out our scoring on the night were 5 third place finishes. Emma Johnson ran a personal best 6:32 mile to go along with her other 3rd place run in the 2 mile. Alaina Poggiali also earned 2 third place finishes in shot put and discus. Finally, Michaela Nichols joined teammate Claire Agnew in her first 800 meter race, coming away with the 3rd place finish. Other PRs on the day include Courtney Lott in long jump, Emmalee Hudecek in the 100, Hannah Hudecek in the 100, and Kaitlyn Cummings in the 100.
