Teresa Vondrasek Graham '79

Inducted - 2017

From the class of 1979, Teresa starred in basketball, softball and volleyball. As a senior, she was named the Most Valuable Player (basketball) in the Big Nine Conference. Throughout her three-year varsity career, she totaled 562 points and 960 rebounds.  Vondrasek continued her basketball career at Oakland University. She still ranks third all-time in career rebounding at Oakland and fourth all-time in steals. While at Oakland, Vondrasek helped the Pioneers — now known as the Golden Grizzlies — to a pair of league championships as well as two berths in the NCAA Tournament and a National Semifinal appearance in 1982. Teresa was also the most valuable player of the 1992 National Champion ASA Class B fast pitch softball team. She was inducted into the Oakland University Sports Hall of Fame in 1993 and then again in 2002 as part of the 1981-82 Oakland women’s basketball team. Vondrasek won her first Junior Olympic National judo title in 1977. In 1983 she won gold medals at the NCAA nationals, as well as in an open class. Other judo championships include a bronze medal at the U.S. Open International, silver at the British Open, two bronze medals at the Senior Nationals and silver at the U.S. World Trials. She would also win gold medals at the U.S. Olympic Sports Festival in 1985, 1986 and 1987. She has spent the past three decades as a teacher/coach/administrator in Laingsburg and Owosso.  Teresa Vondrasek Graham retired as principal at Central Elementary School in Owosso. She served 16 years in the Owosso school system following 15 years at Laingsburg Schools.
