Curran Jacobs '07

Inducted 2018

Curran Jacobs ‘07 -  From the halls of OHS to the mats of MSU to Hollywood, the OHS Male Athlete of the Year in 2007, Curran capped an impressive career as an All-State wrestler (2nd place) his senior year, and 1st team All-State in football in both his junior and senior years.  As a gridder, Curran currently holds ten school offensive records including: Most rushing TD’s in a game (5), Most rushing yards in a season (1153), and Most carries for a career (483).

While a Michigan State Spartan wrestler, Jacobs placed twice in the Big 10 Tournament, and was a two-time NCAA Tournament qualifier.  Curran’s work ethic, determination and personality earned him the distinction as the Spartan team captain in his junior and senior years.  Among his other awards at MSU: 2008 – Outstanding Freshman Award, 2009 – Commitment Award, 2010 – MSU Most Exciting Wrestler, 2011 – Spartan Academic Excellence, Distinguished Big 10 Scholar, 2012 – Leadership Award, Most Exciting Wrestler.  Earning his master’s degree in Acting from MSU in 2018, Curran has begun his acting career, earning several screen and stage credits in addition to producing/directing/starring in several short films. Among his early Hollywood mentors are Adam Sandler and Randy Couture.

Jacobs has a new athletic interest, Catch Wrestling.  In this style of wrestling, no points are earned, and no score is kept.  Victories are only earned through pinning your opponent or causing them to, “tap-out” through a submission hold.  In 2018, Curran became the World Champion in his weight class in Catch Wrestling. He is an artist on stage, on screen, on the mat, and in the ring…clearly a gem that is shining very brightly and will for years to come.

Curran currently resides in both Owosso and East Lansing. He is the proud father of son Dean, born in 2013.  In his spare time, Curran works on his own web series, “Dis-Engage” and adds material to his Facebook actor page, “Curran Jacobs”.  From time to time, you can find Curran back in the OHS wrestling room with Coach Ryan Clevenger and the Trojans.
