Gordon Weeks '63

GORDON WEEKS ‘63 - Gordon was a member of the first graduating class of the current Owosso High School in 1963.  Weeks was also the MHSAA wrestling state champion in 1963 at 120 pounds. Following his prep career, Gordon wrestled for the University of Michigan from 1963-1967.  Upon graduation in Ann Arbor, Weeks headed to Flint, where he started the wrestling program for Kearsley High School in 1967. Following a brief stint at KHS, Weeks returned home to serve as the Trojans wrestling coach and teacher from 1969-1982.  From 1982 until his retirement in 1998, Weeks served as an administrator in the Fowlerville and Huron Valley school districts.

As the Trojans’ wrestling coach, Weeks sent several wrestlers to District, Regional and State meets each year, including Tim Smelser, state champion at 105 pounds in 1978.  Weeks also coached football as an assistant for the Trojans for 13 years as well as one year as an assistant baseball coach. While mentoring Owosso athletes for over a decade, Weeks credits his own personal mentors, including: John Miller, Dave Space, Joe Woodard, Cliff Keen, Bill Allen, and Jerry Alliton.
