Owosso Track and Field kicked off the season at the SVSU Invite on Thursday. Owosso athletes competed really well and had many great performances. Katie Clevenger had the biggest day for the girls team as she finished 2nd in high jump with a personal best height of 5'0" to go along with a 7th place 60m dash where she missed out on 4th place by only .02 seconds. Lexi Martenis also had a strong showing with a 7th place finish in long jump (14'10") and 9th in the 60m, only missing the finals by .05 seconds. On the boys side it was the distance crew that shined. Juniors Jorden Sowash and Mason Collard had great days. Jorden won the 3200 with an impressive time of 9:48.71, while Mason finished the same race in 6th place, shaving a full 42 seconds off of his best effort last season (10:11.19). Mason also went out later in the afternoon and brought back a 3rd place finish in the 800m with another PR time of 2:06.12. We are very excited about the season and can't wait to see what everyone is able to accomplish this year.
