Shiawassee County XC Championship

Game Date
Oct 23, 2021

Owosso high school and middle school traveled to Corunna today to compete in the Shiawassee County cross country championship. Our varsity girls were up first, and made quite the statement. Josie Jenkinson, Onna West, and Libby Summerland not only earned "1st team all-county" honors by finishing in the top 7, they finished 1st-3rd in the race overall, with Claire Agnew and Brieanna Wood coming in 10th and 13th, earning "2nd team all-county" honors. The girls came in 1st overall, finishing with 28 points, 24 points ahead of 2nd place Laingsburg.

The 2nd race of the day was our middle school girls, who finished 3rd overall, but had 2 girls in the top 5. Sisters Emma and Abby Crandell came away with 2nd and 5th place medals, both running personal best times. Also running well for the team were Mia Lentz (22nd), Sadie Voss (32nd), Caroline Harper (35th), and Faith Darling (36th).

Next up were the varsity boys, who ended the day in 4th place. Also finishing 4th overall was Jack Smith, earning "1st team all-county" honors. With a personal best time of 18:30, Corey Gates finished 8th overall, earning "2nd team all-county" honors. Sam Perry finished in 24th, Zach Wieler 32nd, Charlie Agnew 34th, and Charlie Nolph 45th.

Finally, our middle school boys finished off the day. Only having 4 boys run in the race, they did not have enough runners for a team score, but the boys who ran had great races. Finishing with a 7th place medal was Max Baade, who is also planning to join our varsity boys next season. Keagan Spielman ran a very impressive race, finishing just 1 place from a top 10 medal, but was also the highest finishing 6th grade runner in the race, with the next highest 6th grader coming in at 21st place. The future is bright for Keagan! Finishing in 15th with a great performance was Ariston Dallas. Robert Terry ran through knee pain on his way to a 30th place finish.
