Owosso traveled down the road to compete in the Corunna Invitational on Friday afternoon. It was really nice having a lot of strong competition and it pushed many athletes to season or personal best results. Although the meet was scored as a true team invitational where every competitor scores for his/her team, we did not go in trying to load up every event and compete for a better team place. Instead we used it as a regional preparation meet in a lot of cases where we had athletes focus on their best events that they will more than likely be competing in at regionals in two weeks.

On the girls side, Lexi Martenis had a solid day with a second place finish in the 100m dash (13.1), beating a very good field athletes where 22 ran under 14 seconds. She also just missed her PR in long jump by a half of an inch as she finished 5th overall and 3/4 of an inch from 3rd (16'1.5"). Mirranda LIbbey ran the 3200m in 12:12.96, earning a 5th place finish and a season record result. Molly Hart ran in her first outdoor meet of the season, putting down a very good 100m time of 13.44 and finishing in 8th place. There were many other girls that competed well today including PRs from Emily Summerland (in two events), Lauren Skinner, Haley Mickle (in two events), Alexis Chamberlin (in two events), and Keera Barnhill. We will be hosting Holly and Flushing next Wednesday as we celebrate our seniors' last home track and field meet.

The Owosso boys track and field team took 4th out of 5 teams in the Medium school division and 13th out of 17 at the Corunna True Team Invite on Friday night.  Overall top six medalists included:

Jorden Sowash: 6th overall in the 3200 m run

Mason Collard: 6th overall in the 800 and 1600 m runs

Kaleb Anderson: 6th overall in the long jump

The boys will take the track on Wednesday, May 8th at home against Holly and Flushing to wrap up the Flint Metro League regular season.  Full results from Friday's meet can be found at: https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/MeetResults.aspx?Meet=354268&show=all
