The Girls Swim and Dive Team traveled to Oakland University on Friday to compete in the State Finals.  The top 16 swimmers in each event come back for the finals on Saturday.  The girls had a fantastic day and accomplished some impressive achievements.  In the first event the medley relay team of Macy Irelan, Lily Espinoza, Allie Pumford and Mya LaMay crushed the school record they had already broken back in October.  The record was set at 1:58.10, today they all swam lifetime best splits and set the new record at 1:55.26.  They were seeded 25^th but moved all the up to 16^th, for the first time ever the Trojans advanced a relay to the finals.   

In the 200 free Allie Pumford broke her own school record that she set last year going a 1:59.18 today.  She placed 15^th and advances to the finals.

In diving Katie Clevenger performed outstanding dives and is placed 2^nd with 3 dives to perform tomorrow. 

In the butterfly Macy Irelan turned in a lifetime best time going a 1:02.01 and placed 20^th.

In the 100 free Allie Pumford broke her own school record that she set two weeks ago at the conference meet of 53.94 going a 53.68 today.  She advanced to the finals placing 10^th. 

In the backstroke Macy Irelan went a 1:03.84 and placed 32^nd. 

In the breaststroke Lily Espinoza swam a lifetime best swim of 1:12.26 and placed 27^th. 

In the final event of the day, the 400 free relay, the team of Macy Irelan, Kate Grinnell, Lily Espinoza and Allie  Pumford smashed the school record of 3:54.35 going 3:51.96 and placed 22^nd. 

Just qualifying for the State Finals is very impressive.  Swimming at the state meet is something 90% of swimmers never get to experience.  Today the Trojan’s achieved many firsts for the Girls Swim Program:
First time a relay advanced to the finals
First time 4 girls competed in individual events
First time the team had 6 individual entries
First time Owosso will have 3 individual events on Saturday
Coach Murray couldn’t be prouder of what these girls accomplished today and what the whole team accomplished this year.  Can’t wait to see what Saturday brings!
