Owosso Girls' Soccer fought hard against Birch Run, but fell 0-1. With only one full team practice in nearly 3 weeks (due to spring break and the band trip) our team was still able to prove what they are capable of this season. This is a Birch Run side that beat us by 8 goals the last time we played them. Tonight, we went down, 0-1, at halftime. During the 2nd half, we regrouped, and shut out our opponent. We failed to convert any goals but made a number of promising attacking runs up the field. Our team was even able to transition seamlessly between 4-4-2 and 3-5-2 formations. We made a number of solid stops, stepped up late-game physical play, and started developing necessary trust of one another's on-field play. Owosso had 1 shot compared to Birch Run's 11 shots. Owosso's Lily Usher made 10 saves. Standout, aggressive play was shown Jillian Klaver, Rorie Babcock, Leah Miller, Grace Perry, and our fullbacks. We look forward to ending the week with two solid games: Waverly on Thursday and Carman-Ainsworth on Friday.
