Owosso girls’ soccer kicked off their season with a tough 1-2 loss to Carman Ainsworth. After only having 2 true Varsity practices over the course of 2 weeks, it was apparent that our team needed a first half warm up session. Carman dominated first half play with several shots, many of which our keeper, Izzey Newbury, saved. After going down 0-1 within the second half, our team quickly step up play. Owosso dominated the overwhelming majority of the second, piecing together solid passing combinations and stepping up the aggressiveness. Alaynie Drury scores a solid goal off Claire Drake's cross (52:38). Carman’s Destinee Lester scored her second goal of the game, giving the go ahead goal. Although we lost our first game, we were proud of many aspects of the second half. Our freshmen players stepped into their Varsity roles quite well, our center backs helped control play, and our mids made some great passing combinations.
