Game Date
May 8, 2023
Score
TROJANS: 1
FLUSHING HIGH SCHOOL: 6

Owosso Soccer took on 2nd Place Flushing. Our opponent brought on an onslaught of shots (41) and corners (over 15), but we were able to maintain a 1-6 final score. We knew we were in for a tough match, so we impressed upon our team the need to play physical and keep disciplined shape on the field. Owosso contested every shot, forcing the majority high and wide. We went into halftime down 0-2.

Shortly into the 2nd half, we nabbed our first goal as Brooklyn Fields fought through 2 players and a keeper to free the ball for a Elizabeth McCroan goal. Owosso continued to fight off Flushing's shots and corners. Although, they scored 4 goals in the 2nd half, we didn't hang our heads. We knew we battled for every ball and halted most of Flushing's offensive opportunities.

Full backs, Mallory Dennis, Grace Perry, and Olivia Savage worked in tandem with one another, making things difficult for Flushing. Our opponent became visibly frustrated, as we kept taking away seemingly easy goal scoring opportunities. Lily Usher made several impressive stops, tonight, bringing her season total to 147. Midfielders showed some true grit, tonight, as they battled for every ball and cut off passing/shooting lanes. Monae Pettigrew played her best midfield game in 3 years. We are so proud of our team's effort. We maintained defensive shape and battled for every ball.

Flushing Shots: 41
Owosso Shots: 2

Owosso Keeper Lily Usher: 16 saves (13 saves away from the MHSAA All-time career saves record)
