Welcome to the 2023 OHS Volleyball Season!!! Tryout Dates are August 7-10 in the high school gym from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm for sub-varsity and 6:00-8:30 PM for varsity. All interested 9^th – 12^th grade athletes are invited to showcase your skills and COMPETE for an opportunity to be a part of the lady Trojan family.

In the best of all possible worlds, you wouldn’t ever have to cut anybody. Everyone who tried out and put in the effort would make the varsity. You’d never have to say “no.” There would be enough resources, equipment, practice field hours and assistant coaches to accommodate everyone and anyone who wanted to play. However, that world doesn’t exist and one of my least favorite responsibilities is to place girls on teams commensurate with their current skill level and the needs of the teams.

Depending on the number of girls who try out for the 2023 volleyball teams, cuts may be necessary. To navigate this delicate but necessary path I am making time on Thursday to communicate my decisions. If cuts are necessary, I will do so in a way that allows the athletes to process the inherent emotions without spectators. Parents I ask that you be a partner in providing the necessary support through this process. I ask that if you have questions regarding my decision that you wait 24 hours and feel free to set up a time to speak with me.
