11 girls traveled to SVSU to compete against 26 other schools in an indoor invitational to open the season on Thursday. There were not team scores, but individuals that finished in the top 6 earned medals. We earned 3 medals on impressive performances, but had many great performances and I am very excited about this season. Freshman Josie Jenkinson opened the day with a 2nd place finish in the 3200m (2 mile) with a time of 12:50. Our 2 state qualifying pole vaulters from a year ago picked up where they left off. Claire Agnew finished 2nd with a vault of 9'6", while Libby Summerland took 3rd after vaulting 9'0". 

Other great performances included senior captain Michaela Nichols' personal best long jump of 13'10" which placed 9th, missing qualifying for long jump finals by just 1". Libby Summerland also took to the track, showcasing her improved speed by cutting off more than a full second on her 200 time (28.31), finishing 10th. 

It's going to be a great year! Great start girls!
