Owosso 72

Goodrich 65

It was one heck of a day on the track Tuesday when Owosso took down a very talented and undefeated Goodrich team. Today was all about teamwork and coming together to achieve something great. First place finishes are always important, but today was about our 2nd and 3rd place finishes. It was about our grit, our will to fight through pain and discomfort. It was about our leadership and girls lifting each other up and pushing each other. And it was definitely about selflessness.

Our athlete of the day goes to Julionna West. Onna was thrown into the both hurdle events today in an attempt to steal away a few points. After less than a week of practicing hurdles, Onna secured 3rd place in the 100m hurdles (21.19) and 2nd place in the 300m hurdles (54.17) in razor tight races. Onna gave so much that she could barely walk after her races. Take away the 4 points she earned in these events today and we would have lost by 1 point!

Desiree Mofield had a massive day as well with 2 huge wins in shot put and discus. Des hit a giant 7 and a half foot PR in discus (99'1") and a big season record by nearly 2 feet in shot put (34').

Gabi Hufnagel took home the most wins and points today. Gabi won both the 100m hurdles (17.37) and 300m hurdles (52.59) as well as the 200m dash (27.48) and 4x100m relay (with teammates Libby Summerland, Skotti Ball-Duley and Kyle Bermudez).

On top of the relay win, Kyle Bermudez tied for 1st in pole vault and took 2nd in both the 100m hurdles and long jump. Kyle has been recovering from a hamstring injury and fought through a bit of pain to get her team all those points.

Isabel Root has a great day as well with ties for first in two events. Isabel shared the win with teammates in both pole vault (7') as well as high jump (4'8")

Despite being sick, Peyton Spicer still managed to win long jump with a single jump (13'9.5"), tie for 1st in high jump with a single jump (4'8"), and take 2nd in shot put (29'5").

Libby Summerland anchored the 4x100m relay win as well as taking 2nd the 400m (1:02.58) and 3rd (14.02) in the 100m.

4x100m teammate Skotti Ball-Duley ran in the relay for the first time ever and helped the team run a season and Flint Metro League Stars division best 53.88. Skotti then went on to take 2nd place in the 800m (2:29.13).

Josie Jenkinson hit a PR 5:50.13 in the 1600 on her way to a 3rd place finish.

Other PRs of the day included:

Kate Lee had a PR in the 100m hurdles.

Paige Davis had a SR in shot put

Elise Linker had a PR in shot put and discus

Gabrielle Cooper had a PR in discus

Mackenzie Hayes had a PR in discus

Levi Davidson had a PR in pole vault

Lexi Blaha had a PR in long jump

We have Friday off this week and will look to extend our winning streak to 10 when we travel to Lake Fenton next Tuesday.
