Another one! For the second time this season track history has been made. Peyton Spicer soared over a 5'4" bar to break Jessica Gelfand's 2005 high jump record of 5'3". She was on fire, hitting height after height and drawing a crowd to watch her amazing accomplishment. Congratuations Peyton!

Overall, Owosso girls' finished 4th out of 13 teams, behind Pewamo-Westphalia, Fowler, and Portland St. Patrick. It was quite a day. In a meet that year after year provides frigid cold and wet conditions, the meet was hot and draining. Our girls showed grit and toughness throughout a night that didn't come to an end until around 11:15 PM.

Claire Agnew and Libby Summerland waited around all day to get the chance to pole vault. Delay after delay left the pair waiting until after the entire meet finished to finish vaulting. In fact, after running the final race of the night (the 4x400m relay), Claire hadn't even began vaulting yet and Libby had only just started. They then went to work after racing in 3 grueling races, at about 11:00 PM. The toughness that they showed was unreal as they still were able to finish 1st and 2nd respectively with vaults of 10'6" and 10'.

Claire added a 6th place finish in the 400 (1:05.09) as well as a 6th place finish as part of the 4x400m relay team with teammates Libby Summerland, Gabi Hufnagel, and Emma Johnson.

Libby earned a 3rd place finish in the 400 (1:01.99) and 7th place finish in the 200 (28.13) to go along with her leg of the 4x400m relay.

Emma Crandell turned in another impressive day with a 2nd place finish in the 3200 (12:44.80) and a 4th place finish in the 1600 (5:57.63).

Gabi Hufnagel also had a fantastic day. After starting the day with a PR in the 100m hurdles (19.23), Gabi ran a very impressive 51.85 in the 300m hurdles, tripping over the final hurdle, but managing to stay on her feet until she fell across the finish line in 5th place. She is currently seeded 2nd in the region with that performance. Gabi finished the night as part of the 6th place 4x400m relay team.

The final scoring performance of the day was turned in by Kyle Bermudez, who hurdled her way to a 6th place finish in the 100m hurdles (18.53). Kyle also finished 8th in pole vault (7'6") and ran a personal best 100m (14.02).

Next week we are headed to Clio for our second and third Flint Metro Meets in a double dual against both Clio and Lake Fenton on Tuesday.
