Girls Varsity Track @ the Corunna Cavalier Classic

Game Date
May 3, 2024

Owosso track and field traveled across town to compete in the Corunna Cavalier Classic Invitational on Friday. We were one of 14 teams in attendance and had many great performances. We were able to come away with 2 first place finishes.

First, Libby Summerland had a great 10'6" pole vault finish, nearly making it over 11'2" for the 2nd meet in a row despite the rain pouring down on her. Libby went on to finish 2nd in the 400m dash with a time of 1:00.66, just missing out on first by .1 seconds. She followed that up by earning a 6th place medal with a 27.62 in the 200m.

Peyton Spicer finally got her groove back in discus, breaking 100' for the first time this season and throwing a personal best 114'. She also managed a 2nd place tie in high jump at 4'10" as well as a 6th place shot put of 31'9.5".

Gabi Hufnagel had a solid day in hurdles, earning a 2nd place finish in the 300m hurdles with a personal best 47.19. She also had a nice 3rd place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.06.

Skotti Ball-Duley had an absolutely MASSIVE PR and 3rd place finish in the 800m with a 2:23.73. As 2:25 is the additional qualifying standard used at regionals, if Skotti runs what she did today in 2 weeks at regionals she will qualify for the state championship. Skotti was also a part of the 3rd place 4x800m releay team that ran an 11 second PR. Josie Jenkinson, Julionna West, and Emma Crandell were also on that team.

In addition to the 4x800m relay, Josie was able to finish in 6th in the 1600m with a 10 second PR of 5:40.07.

Desiree Mofield was able to walk away with medals in shot put and discus, finishing in 4th (32'4") and 5th (93'7")  respectively.

Kyle Bermudez earned a 5th place medal in pole vault with a height of 8'.

Our girls now have a week off to rest and prepare for the Flint Metro League Championship next Friday in Lake Fenton.
