Owosso girls' cross country opened the season late last night at the Under the Lights Invitational hosted by St. Johns. The race started at 10:00PM with everybody wearing fun glow gear. Not only was this a fun invitational to kick off the season, there was a ton of great competition, including both St. Johns and DeWitt who have been projected to beat us this year at regionals. While they took 2nd and 3rd in the meet, it was division 1 Midland Dow that won the meet. Owosso managed a 6th place finish out of 13 teams with very strong performances by our girls. Considering we were without one of our best runners, Josie Jenkinson, we were very happy with the results. 

Emma Crandell showed off how hard she has been working in the past year by coming in as the top Owosso runner and finishing in 13th place. Senior captain Libby Summerland finished just behind her in 14th. Next in was Onna West who finished 21st, followed by Natalie Summerland in 32nd who finished with a personal record time of 22:00 (a full 3 minutes faster than she started the season last year!). Finally, after only a couple practices in her first year of running cross country since 6th grade, senior Skotti Ball-Duley ran an impressive 24:45 (7:59 per mile pace) finishing in 91st out of 184 runners.
