Owosso traveled to the Genesee County fairgrounds in Mt. Morris on Saturday to compete in the Greater Flint Championship. Even though we finished 5th out of 18 schools, it was a much more impressive finish than it appears. Two of the teams that beat us are very good division 1 teams (Davison and Grand Blanc) while the other two teams are both ranked in the top 7 in the state in division 2.

When broken into 3 divisions, Owosso finished 3rd in the medium schools division, only 18 points behind #7 in the state Frankenmuth. Individually, our girls all had great days, especially Natalie Summerland and Skotti Ball-Duley. Natalie managed to cut 30 seconds off of her PR time from last weekend, where she had just cut 20 seconds as well. She has been on a tear and is closing the gap on the first 4 members of the team. Similarly, Skotti has cut 50 seconds from her PR in her last two meets, including a huge 40 second drop on Saturday! We now only have 1:21 separating our top runner from our 6th runner.

These girls weren't the only girls that had success on Saturday, however. Libby Summerland, Josie Jenkinson, Emma Crandell, and Julionna West all had season best times as well. Libby, Josie, and Emma all finished in the top 14 in the medium school division to earn 2nd team honors.
