Owosso traveled to Shepherd on Saturday to compete in the Shepherd Bluejay Invite. The event is one of the largest cross country events all year with over 4000 athletes in middle school and high school racing throughout the day. Our division had 23 teams competing against each other, including 5 teams ranked in the top 20 in the state (division 2). With every Owosso athlete ran season best times and three running career best times, we were able to finish in third place.

Libby Summerland, Josie Jenkinson, and Emma Crandell all finished within 12 seconds of each other, earning 14th, 17th, and 18th places respectively. Libby was the first girl to break 20 minutes this season with a run of 19:56, which Josie finished at 20:07 and Emma at 20:08. I anticipate that after next weekend we will have 3 girls under 20 minutes with more on the way. Next in for Owosso was Julionna West who finished 30 with a time of 20:48. Natalie Summerland earned a PR, missing a medal by a single place as she finished 41st with a time of 21:16. Skotti Ball-Duley came in just 10 places later with a PR 21:53.
